Abstract

The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought transformative possibilities across various domains, including accessibility solutions for the visually impaired. This research explores the pivotal role of AI in empowering individuals with visual disabilities by enhancing their autonomy, access to information, and integration into mainstream activities. The paper delves into AI-driven innovations such as image recognition, natural language processing, and real-time navigation assistance, highlighting their impact on overcoming everyday challenges faced by visually impaired individuals. Furthermore, it evaluates current technologies, including AI-enabled screen readers, object detection systems, and smart wearables, while addressing their limitations and ethical considerations. The study also discusses emerging trends and future directions, emphasising the importance of inclusive design and user-centric approaches. By bridging gaps in accessibility, AI serves as a guiding light, fostering independence and improving the quality of life for the visually impaired community. This paper aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on leveraging AI for social good, advocating for the development of equitable and sustainable solutions.
