Abstract

The academic libraries are rapidly changing due to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and other emerging digital technologies. Although these developments are excellent in terms of innovation in service delivery, they are also very challenging to the stability of the traditional library setting and professional practices. The paper examined perspectives of how academic libraries could be resilient with the help of reflective practice and strategic innovation in the era of artificial intelligence. Based on the review of relevant studies and professional practice models, the paper discusses the changing roles of librarians, the incorporation of AI-enabled products, and the redesign of the services of libraries to suit the shifting expectations of users. The discussion identifies the main aspects of resilience, such as adaptability, constant professional learning, the use of ethical technologies, and the responsiveness of institutions. The paper suggests that by reflecting on any current practices, academic libraries will be able to see the gaps in their capacity and align the adoption of AI with professional values, rather than technological determinism. It also exposes that reflection-based innovation improves the relevance, sustainability, and trust of users in the service. The paper concludes that resilience in academic libraries is not a purely technological but an organisational and professional concept and must be invested in creatively through the development of human capacity, enabling leadership, and thoughtful cultures. It offers recommendations on enhancing the resilience of libraries by adopting both artificial intelligence and perpetual innovation in service practices.
