This study examines the development and functioning of cruise tourism in Kerala, India, through the framework of cooperative tourism, which emphasises community participation, decentralised governance, and stakeholder integration. Kerala’s unique model of cooperative tourism is analysed as a mechanism for enhancing inclusivity, local economic benefits, and adaptive capacity in the face of evolving industry demands.
The research further explores the role of advanced technological systems, particularly semantic grid technologies, in improving the efficiency, coordination, and resilience of cruise tourism operations. In parallel, the study critically assesses the environmental vulnerabilities of Kerala’s tourism sector, with a focus on the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme rainfall events and flooding and their implications for infrastructure, safety, and sustainability. Additionally, the paper investigates the potential influence of solar activity on precipitation variability, contributing to a broader understanding of climatic risk factors affecting the region.
Dr.Muhammed Anas.B , Rajinder Singh, Dr. Sini.V Copyright (c) 2026 Journal of Advanced Research in Sustainable Urban Development and Community Empowerment Initiatives https://www.thejournalshouse.com/index.php/JoARSUDCEI/article/view/2047 Tue, 07 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0000 An Initiative of Travel Business Lounges Aimed at Providing Services for Passengers At The Ksrtc Terminal’s Through Cooperative Tourism: An Analysis Of Hospitality Functioning and Its Systematic Integration https://www.thejournalshouse.com/index.php/JoARSUDCEI/article/view/2048
Kerala, widely recognised as “God’s Own Country", has developed a distinctive tourism model that integrates public infrastructure with hospitality services to enhance traveller experience. Within this framework, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) plays a pivotal role by providing extensive connectivity across the state and beyond. In recent years, the introduction of hospitality-driven lounges at KSRTC bus terminals—operated through cooperative models and public-private partnerships—has emerged as an innovative approach to improving passenger comfort, service quality, and overall tourism appeal.
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the design, implementation, and functioning of these terminal lounges, positioning them within Kerala’s broader cooperative tourism ecosystem. Moving beyond a conventional service perspective, the research conceptualises lounge operations as complex adaptive systems shaped by infrastructural design, organisational behaviour, and dynamic resource management. Drawing on multidisciplinary insights from network science, healthcare system analogies, and machine learning applications, the study evaluates operational efficiency, service variability, and transparency in lounge management.
Dr.Muhammed Anas.B , Rajinder Singh, Dr. Sini.V Copyright (c) 2026 Journal of Advanced Research in Sustainable Urban Development and Community Empowerment Initiatives https://www.thejournalshouse.com/index.php/JoARSUDCEI/article/view/2048 Tue, 07 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Feminist Economics in India: Contributions to the Discourse on a New Society https://www.thejournalshouse.com/index.php/JoARSUDCEI/article/view/2049
Feminist economics in India has developed into a transformational paradigm that contests traditional economic theories by prioritising gender, care, and social justice in development studies. This article analyses the significant contributions of feminist economics in India towards reevaluating the underpinnings of a more just society. It shows how feminist studies have shown that orthodox economics has some problems, such as ignoring unpaid care work, dividing labour by gender, and having structural inequities built into markets and institutions. The study examines significant topics within Indian contexts, including the valuation of unpaid labour, women's involvement in the informal economy, resource accessibility, and intersectional disparities influenced by caste, class, and geography.
The study also looks at how feminist economic ideas have affected public policy discussions in India, such as gender-responsive budgeting, labour rights, and social welfare programmes. It contends that feminist economics broadens the definition of "economic" and introduces alternative development models based on sustainability, communal welfare, and social reproduction. By combining real-world data with innovative ideas, feminist economists in India help us imagine a future society that values fairness, respect, and growth that includes everyone. The paper emphasises the significance of feminist economics as a critique of current institutions and a constructive approach to conceptualising economic and social development in India.
V Basil Hans, Manjula Mallya M. This evolution reflects growing recognition that sustainable cities require not only efficient infrastructure and economic growth but also social equity, environmental stewardship, and citizen involvement. This review synthesizes multidisciplinary literature on sustainable urban development, highlighting the transition from conventional planning paradigms to community-centered approaches that integrate theoretical, empirical, and practical insights.
The study examines key theoretical foundations of urban sustainability, including systems thinking, resilience, and the “triple bottom line” framework, and explores governance mechanisms that promote transparency, accountability, and participatory planning. It further evaluates participatory models that engage local communities in decision-making processes, thereby enhancing social inclusion, equity, and wellbeing. Emerging trends such as smart cities, digital technologies, and climate-resilient urban design are also analyzed for their potential to improve efficiency, resource management, and adaptive capacity, while addressing challenges related to data equity, social inclusion, and environmental justice.
By emphasizing the integration of local knowledge, social equity, and environmental sustainability, this review underscores the necessity of multidisciplinary collaboration across urban planning, public health, environmental science, and social governance. The review concludes with actionable recommendations for policymakers, urban planners, and other stakeholders, advocating for inclusive, adaptive, and evidence-based approaches that foster resilient, equitable, and sustainable urban systems capable of responding to the complex challenges of 21st-century urbanization.
Joydip Mitra, Adrija Majumdar Copyright (c) 2026 Journal of Advanced Research in Sustainable Urban Development and Community Empowerment Initiatives https://www.thejournalshouse.com/index.php/JoARSUDCEI/article/view/2051 Tue, 07 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Urban Sustainability and Community Wellbeing: A Multidisciplinary Review of Theory and Practice https://www.thejournalshouse.com/index.php/JoARSUDCEI/article/view/2052
Urban sustainability has become a critical global priority in response to rapid urbanization, increasing environmental degradation, and widening socio-economic inequalities.
